The Outer Reef "Explorer Series" will have a semi-displacement hull with a moderate draft (1.98 m) to allow the navigation from the east coast of the USA to the shallow waters of the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Their long range and unlimited ocean classification will also permit ocean crossings.
The production of these vessels will take place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan where all the Outer Reef Yachts are built.
"We are excited to be taking Outer Reef Yachts to the next level of design and engineering in our new Explorer Series. Our strategic and exclusive partnership with Setzer Design Group brings instant credibility to this new series and puts Outer Reef on the cutting edge of Superyacht design and engineering. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Setzer Design", says Jeff Druek, President and CEO of Outer Reef Yachts.
For 22 years, the Setzer team (four-time recipient of the ISS Award for "Best Power") has provided timeless and instantly recognizable designs for elegant, buildable, and seaworthy yachts ranging from 78' to 140'.
Speaking in reference to the partnership, founder Ward Setzer, said "We are inspired by the track record Outer Reef has established, particularly in building robust, bluewater long range cruisers. We are looking forward to working with Outer Reef to define the next generation of trans-Atlantic, open-ocean vessels."
